Practice Policies

Payment & insurance

Valley Mental Health and Wellness, the practice of Suzanne M. Ward, PMHNP, is a private pay practice and does not participate in any insurance programs at this time. The practice does not bill insurance companies directly. Patients may choose to independently seek reimbursement from their insurance plan, Health Savings Plan, or other community resources. However, the practice itself does not process insurance claims or accept insurance payments. All fees are paid directly by cash, check, or select cash apps.

First appointments

To provide the best experience, all first-time appointments are scheduled as in person.

Appointment frequency

Quality psychiatric care requires regular monitoring and contact. To provide high-quality care, in-person appointments are required at a minimum of:

  • Every four months if the treatment plan includes non-controlled prescription medications
  • Every three months if the treatment plan includes controlled prescription medications

Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Emergency policy

If you are in crisis right now: Call 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department. You can also call or text 988 for the national Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or contact your local county crisis office — see the county crisis numbers list.

Valley Mental Health and Wellness is unable to provide emergency services. There is no dedicated emergency telephone line available, and the practice does not guarantee that phone calls will be answered or returned before 8 AM, after 8 PM, or on weekends and holidays. The practice does not have admitting or treating privileges at any hospitals.

If a psychiatric emergency arises — such as, but not limited to, an allergic reaction to medication, experiencing suicidal thoughts with a plan to act, a suicide attempt, or homicidal ideation — clients or their family/support group must immediately call 911 or seek treatment at their local hospital’s emergency department. Clients may also contact their local crisis office for assistance.

A list of local crisis numbers is provided at the initial appointment and can be found here: County Crisis Numbers.
